Manual Training High School – Gone But Not Forgotten – A Plaque To Celebrate A Legacy of Greatness

Manual Training High School was one of the first three high schools established in Oklahoma for the education of Black children.  Over 5000 students graduated during its sixty one years of service before it merged in 1970 with the majority white Central High School.  The  school building no longer bears the MTHS name, but the Class of 1964 was determined to preserve the memory of the building’s renowned  history.   To that end the Class  led a drive to place a bronze plaque on the renamed building  that recounts the glorious history of Manual Training High School for all to remember.
